He passes the phone around the table, wonderment, joy and buzz buzz of the tinny engine on the video spilling from the mobile phone.
Jaws drop, giggles, ooohs and shared delight.
He walks across the room to his friends sitting in the window, the sounds reverberate off the glass amplified, intrusive. Annoying.
Heartwarming too. How lovely to see them bonding over such innocent, playful things.
He watches it again, jaw lower if that’s possible, his friends continue talking amongst themselves — once was enough for them.
They finish supping their pints, ambling out of the Wetherspoons.
Retirement suits them just fine.
