A drabble (100 word story)

I like to watch people in the reflection of the train window when travelling at night.

People don’t generally like to be stared at but this way I get to observe their humanness and wonder about who they are and where they’re going and how come their nostrils are triangular shaped when others are round without much fear that they’ll notice and feel weird.

I know I’d hate it if I thought someone was observing me so closely, and yet I find it so comforting to be the observer.

How else does one learn how to exist in the world?
